Prof. dr. Genadijus Sokolovas
Prof. Genadijus Sokolovas—widely known as “Dr G”—is a leading sports physiologist whose career spans elite-level athlete testing, biomechanical innovation, and training algorithm development. As Director of Physiology and Sport Science at USA Swimming, he designed advanced testing protocols (e.g. lactate clearance, land–water strength, swim power analysis) used with over 2,000 world-class swimmers, including legends like Michael Phelps, Dara Torres, and Jenny Thompson.
Since 2010, he has served as High Performance Director for USA Pentathlon and continues as a Senior Physiologist at Global Sport Technology—developing services such as SwiMetrics testing, lactate profiling, and training design software while delivering clinics globally.
He also invented performance tools like the Vertical Swim Trainer—recognised by Open Water Swimming media for its impact on technique development—and holds patents in vibration training and swim technology.
Prof. Sokolovas continues to influence coach education and athlete support globally, advising triathletes, pentathletes, swimmers, and modern multi-sport athletes across sport science conferences and Olympic training environments.
