Assoc Prof. Saulius Rutkauskas, MD
Prof Saulius Rutkauskas, MD, PhD, is a radiologist and Associate Professor specialising in musculoskeletal ultrasound. His clinical and academic work focuses on the diagnostic potential of MSK ultrasound, with particular expertise in paediatric and sports-related pathology.
He performs over 100 ultrasound examinations each week and has co-authored two textbooks and more than a dozen peer-reviewed publications, including contributions to European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) guidelines. He also serves as a senior scientist at the Lithuanian Sports University.
Prof Rutkauskas leads the Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Society in Lithuania and is Vice Chair of the ESSR Ultrasound Subcommittee. He has organised over 80 hands-on MSK ultrasound seminars and regularly lectures at international ESSR events and outreach courses across Europe and beyond.
His work contributes to advancing ultrasound as a key diagnostic and monitoring tool in sports medicine, rehabilitation, and physiotherapy—combining clinical accuracy with practical application in athlete care.
