Prof. Heiko Van Vliet
Professor Heiko Van Vliet is an internationally recognised authority in neuromuscular rehabilitation, known for developing the NMES CMT™ framework—an integrative model that combines neuro-muscular electrostimulation with functional muscle training. Designed for re-athletisation and injury recovery, this approach is widely applied across shoulder and knee rehabilitation, spinal control, and high-performance sport settings.
With a background in elite gymnastics and a professional foundation in physical education and functional anatomy, Van Vliet has spent over 15 years consulting in high-performance rehabilitation. He has worked with Olympic and World Championship athletes across swimming, athletics, cycling, and winter sports, and served as a medical staff member at the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.
He is a sought-after educator in neuromuscular therapy, functional anatomy, and sport-specific rehabilitation, lecturing internationally to clinicians, therapists, and sport scientists. His teaching integrates biomechanics, electrostimulation protocols, and evidence-informed methods for neuromuscular recovery.
Professor Van Vliet’s applied methodology bridges clinical practice and performance sport, offering physiotherapists and sports medicine professionals advanced tools for restoring neuromuscular control and enhancing recovery outcomes.
